The Olympics are Coming!!!!

I'm pretty excited to watch the Olympics again this year!  Of course I would rather be there and watch the Olympics in London, but watching on TV will have to do!  Here's a link to keep you in the know!

It's Here... It's Here... The MemoryWorks Blog Hop!

Congrats to MemoryWorks for 10 amazing years.  Happy Birthday to you!!!  Let's keep this party going...

What's a birthday without something fun to wrap the gift in?  I took the Simple Stories Baby Steps Collection Kit, a toilet paper roll, inspiration from Pinterest and created this darling owl.  My girlfriend collects owls, so I couldn't resist.  I used a whole punch to create the circles and layered them to get the affect I needed.  I also took a heart shaped punch and created the feet.  The beak is from a scrap piece of paper from my stash of other MemoryWorks supplies.  For the wings, I just free-handed a template from the collection kit.  For the eyes, again it was just circle punches with some Crystal Stickles for the center.  And just in case you were wondering, I made her a fun washer necklace to put in it.  She loved it!
Using various papers from my MemoryWorks Express Kits (which I love getting and have had a subscription to for several years now), I created an ABC & 123 Book.  Each page was cut to 8x8.  Using my die-cut machine I cut an animal for each page.  For the title page and last page I used scraps from papers I used through-out the book.  The baby can learn their colors  too!  I kept the pages pretty simple and not too lumpy due to the fact that it was a baby book.  I wouldn't want small pieces in the babies mouth, so I made sure the pages were protected.  The book was well received and I was pretty happy with how it turned out.  Here are a few pages to share with you.

Next I created this Canvas.  It would be a nice gift for the birthday girl/boy.  I took a 12x12 canvas and inked the edged with Tim Holtz Walnut and Vintage Photo inks.  I then took the Fancy Pants Wave Searcher Theme Papers - Floating and Shoreline.  Trimming an 1/8 of an inch I made small trim pieces and then inked all the edges of the paper to make embellishments to the layout.  Then I created roses from the selected papers along with more ink on the edges.  I added self-adhesive Zva gems and placed them on the corner of the canvas and placed the rosettes on top.  For added dimension, I created a frame using 1" strips and my decorative edged whole punch to create a sweet frame.  I had previously cut a whole in the canvas to create the whole for the photo to be placed.  I also punched wholes to pull the ribbon through for hanging.  There is a little bit of bling in each of the roses and the ribbon was from my exclusive MemoryWorks stash.  I am pleased with the simple yet elegant look I was able to create with this layout.  I hope you do too.
Thank you for stopping by and partying with me... Party on!

A New Addition to Our Ever Growing Family!

We are expecting our EIGHTH grandchild in November. We feel so blessed to have all these little cherubs in our midst. Crazy me and Crazy Auntie Sarah thought we'd attempt yo have all seven cousins over for another sleep-over. Those sweet kids had so much fun and played real well together... We had nothing to worry about. We did crafts, had pizza, went to the swim center, had waffles for breakfast... All those fun things you do at Grandma and Granpa's house!  They say the family that plays together, stays together... Let's hope so :)

Summer is Well Underway!

Graduation parties, Mother's & Father's Days, Camping, BBQ's and Birthdays!!!  We've participated in so many events already and it's not even the end of June!

For graduation gifts this year I thought it would be fun to "dangle a carrot" (as my Son-In-Law calls it) for all my favorite graduates.  So I made these certificates under glass and entitled them "Break Glass in the Event of an Emergency".  So fun and easy to make :)

For all the grandkids' birthday's this year they are getting "Quillows".  So let's see Madison, Daniel, & Gary have all had their birthdays and Diego's is at the end of the month so this is what I have come-up with so far.
For those who don't know what a Quillow is... it's a quilt that turns into a pillow.  All the grandkids have requested their selection for fabric.  I hope I am lucky enough to find them all :)

For Sarah Jane's Birthday I wanted to do a cupcake that was totally "girly" and not at all Father's Day.  I came up with these.  If I had more time, I'm sure I could have done a better job of icing them, but I was pretty happy with how they turned out and she was pretty happy too :)

For Father's Day, I wanted to give all the dad's a little reminder of how awesome they are!  I created these funnels with a note tied with jute and goodies for them.
Two of my very good friends had birthdays as well, so I got busy creating gifts for them using washers and metal stamps, beads and such.  Fun stuff!

I even attempted to make a cake for one of them to include crystalized/candied lemons.  Yum!

I also made several cards and a few layouts for the month as well!

I know there were a few other things that I got around to doing.  Maybe I'll go back and see what they are... stay tuned to see what else I have been up to :)
